Hiking Mt. Brandon – Dingle, Ireland

I love to find beautiful places to hike!  I always have to have at least one good hike on any vacation I plan.  Here in Dingle, Ireland I couldn’t resist hiking up Mt. Brandon, the highest peak on the Dingle Peninsula at 953 meters (3127ft.).  I had done some brief research online and found most people said it was doable in under 5 hours.  However, we got lost trying to find the path which leads up, and initially started hiking on the All Saint’s path which led us through a sheep pasture and then we found ourselves boxed in with barbed wire fences on all sides and no path to…

    The Forgotten Desk

How come kids never use the desk we bought for them?  I know I’m not alone in this.  It seems to be that most kids want a desk for their room, and most moms agree and buy one – BUT, other than being used as a dirty hamper, used dishes collector, and pretty much a catch-all for junk, the desk is not used as a desk.  My kids always love to do their homework in the kitchen.  I can see how this habit forms for many young ones, because when they are little we help them form their letters correctly while cooking dinner or eating a snack in the…

I found a way to do this on one…

    Hiding in the Pantry

The funniest thing happened last night at my sister’s house.  My 9 year old niece calls out, “Hey, he is hiding in the pantry again!” I turn to see what she is talking about, and there, sheepishly, is my 3 year old nephew peeking his head out of the pantry.  My sister admitted that he does like to sneak into the pantry and eat things that he knows he is not supposed to.  “What! He is just like me!” I exclaimed.  She burst into laughter! It’s true.  Sometimes I stop in at my sister’s house if I have some time to kill before school pick-up time.  She lives near the…
